Apron

The Apron is attached to the front of the Saddle and has a handwheel that manually drives the Saddle along the Ways by way of Rack and Pinion. It is laser-cut from 12mm plate.

The Apron also houses a ‘Half Nut’ mechanism that clamps a split-nut onto a rotating Feed Screw, hence giving the Saddle a smooth power feed when required.
